Your footage is processed locally. Device accounts, feedback, limited recording summaries, advertising and system address lookup involve separate online processing, explained below.
This policy describes how onTheRoad ("we") processes information when you use Easy Car · Dashcam and its companion website. It describes the Easy Car 2.0 features identified on this page.
1. Recordings, photos and on-device detection
The camera captures driving video and snapshots. The microphone records audio only when you enable audio and grant permission; audio is off by default. Videos, audio, photos, thumbnails and media indexes are stored on your device. Event mode buffers compressed footage in memory and saves relevant clips after a manual save or a confirmed automatic protection event. Unsaved buffered footage can be overwritten or lost on interruption.
Road-risk assistance uses a model included with the app and processes footage on your device. Easy Car does not upload video, photos or audio to our servers for this detection or use that media for cloud model training. Copies you choose to share or export are handled by the selected app, photo library, file destination or cloud service.
2. Location, sensors and permissions
With your permission, the app accesses precise or approximate location, speed and location accuracy to display driving information and assist with starting, stopping and sudden-deceleration detection. Basic video recording works without location permission; unavailable or imprecise location limits the associated displays and detection.
- Android: location is used only while the dashcam screen is visible and the device is awake and unlocked. Location listeners stop when the app is backgrounded, the screen locks or you leave that screen. The background recording service does not access location.
- iOS: location may update with when-in-use permission while the app is in the foreground. Backgrounding or screen lock stops location updates and camera capture.
- Nearby addresses: Android Geocoder or Apple geocoding services convert coordinates into a street or area name. This may use the network and send coordinates to the system service provider. An already-issued request may finish after the screen becomes hidden. The provider processes information under its own policy.
- Sensors and device state: motion/acceleration, charging state, battery, available memory and storage may be processed on-device for impact detection, automatic saving and storage management.
- Notifications and export: Android recording notifications show recording status and provide save/stop controls. Export uses system file, photo-library or sharing features; any permissions depend on the platform and OS version.
The current version does not provide continuous route logging or background route tracking. Device-account requests, recording summaries and automatic feedback fields do not include GPS coordinates or raw sensor readings. Advertising services may still infer a general area from an IP address, as explained in section 5.
3. Device account, service logs and recording summaries
On first use, the app generates a random device identifier and creates a device account online without a username or password. We process that random device ID, user ID, authentication credentials, platform, app version, device model, OS version, language and time zone. The random ID is not generated from an IMEI, serial number or other unique hardware identifier. Our servers also receive IP addresses, request times and necessary security/error logs.
Your user ID and preferences are stored locally. Credentials use system secure storage where available, and the random device ID has a local fallback. Initial device-account setup needs a network connection; after setup, local recording and playback do not require continuous connectivity. Securely stored identifiers may survive uninstalling the app; uninstalling does not delete the server-side account.
When you actively stop a recording lasting more than 60 seconds, the app may send a one-time summary to our server: session identifier, duration, start/end times, stop reason, final state, interruption flag, automatic-save count, AI-risk event count, device-account details and the technical information above. This does not include video, audio, photos or GPS coordinates. Failed submissions are not queued for retry. We use this information to operate and protect the service, understand feature use and investigate problems.
4. Feedback and support
Text and optional contact details submitted through Settings → Feedback are sent to our server and the notification channel used to handle feedback. The user ID, device ID, platform, app version, device model, OS version and language shown before submission, plus submission time, are included. If you email us, we use your email address and message to respond and handle the request.
Include only information needed to investigate the issue. Do not send passwords, authentication tokens, complete driving footage or unrelated personal information. You choose the feedback text and whether to provide contact details.
5. Advertising and third-party services
The app includes Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) and Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP). Whether advertising is enabled depends on the version, region, consent status and ad availability. When enabled, banner ads may appear on the home screen. The app uses UMP's status to decide whether it may request ads; recording does not wait for ads or consent forms.
When advertising or consent services operate, Google and advertising partners may process IP addresses (which can indicate a general area), advertising or app-scoped identifiers, device/network information, ad impressions/clicks and other interactions, diagnostics, performance information and consent choices to deliver advertising, measure it and prevent fraud. Identifier availability depends on OS permissions and privacy settings. We do not supply driving video, audio, photos or GPS coordinates as advertising-request parameters.
Where applicable, Settings → Ad privacy options lets you review or change choices; this entry appears when required by UMP. You can also manage advertising identifiers and privacy permissions through the OS. Declining personalized ads does not necessarily stop all ads or all necessary technical processing.
See the Google Privacy Policy, Android SDK data disclosure and iOS SDK data disclosure. For system geocoding, see the Apple Privacy Policy and your Android system service provider's policy.
This website uses Firebase Hosting. Its provider may process IP addresses, browser information, requested paths and access times to serve and secure the pages. These Easy Car pages do not embed additional advertising, analytics scripts or tracking pixels.
6. Purposes, sharing and international processing
We process information to provide requested features, maintain device accounts, keep the service secure and stable, handle feedback and rights requests, display ads consistent with choices and meet legal obligations. Depending on applicable law, processing relies on providing the service, consent, legal obligations or applicable legitimate interests. Sensitive-data or advertising processing requiring separate consent is subject to that requirement.
We do not sell your driving media or personal information. Necessary information may be shared with providers of server hosting, security and feedback notifications, or disclosed to meet valid legal requirements, protect safety and legal rights, or complete a lawful business transfer. Recipients of your own sharing/export actions handle their copies under their policies.
We and our providers may process necessary account, technical, feedback, advertising or website-access data outside your country or region. Where required by law, we use appropriate safeguards for international processing. Advertising and system service providers also process data under their own policies.
7. Retention, security and deletion
- Device media: delete files in the video or photo library. Loop overwrite may remove older unprotected ordinary clips. Saving may stop when protected clips/photos fill the allowance or reserved free space is unavailable. Export important media promptly.
- Exported copies: deleting media in Easy Car does not remove shared/exported copies or third-party/system backups. Manage those separately at the destination.
- Server data: accounts, recording summaries, feedback and logs are kept for as long as needed to provide the service, handle requests, protect security, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations, then deleted or de-identified. Limited legally required or security-related records may remain.
- Security: account and feedback APIs use HTTPS, and credentials use system secure storage where available. No storage or transmission method is absolutely secure. Protect your device and exported content.
To request deletion of your device account and associated server data, email ontheroadlucky@gmail.com with the subject Easy Car data deletion request. State that you want the account and associated records deleted, and provide your user ID (shown on the Feedback screen) and platform (Android/iOS). If the ID is unavailable, explain the situation. We may verify the request using limited necessary information and will process it under applicable law. If records must legally be retained, we will explain why. Server-account deletion does not delete local media, and using online features again may create a device account again.
8. Your choices and rights
You can revoke camera, microphone, location or notification permissions in system settings, disable audio, and adjust saving and automatic protection settings in the app. Revoking permission affects the related feature. Stopping recording stops camera/audio capture; stopping use and closing the app stops its active operation.
Depending on local law, you may request access, correction, deletion or a copy of personal information, withdraw consent, restrict or object to certain processing, or complain to a competent regulator. Contact us at the email above. Withdrawing consent does not affect lawful earlier processing. You do not need to supply driving media or authentication credentials to make a request.
This website stores a language preference in your browser only when you choose a language from its menu. This preference is used only to display your chosen language; it is not sent to our servers. Choose Auto (browser) to clear it. Without a saved choice, the site uses your primary browser language if supported and otherwise English. English is also the static default when JavaScript is unavailable.
9. Minors, updates and contact
The service is for users eligible to use it and is not specifically directed to children. Minors should use it with a guardian's guidance. Using a dashcam does not confer driving eligibility. Obtain guardian consent before processing where local law requires it. Contact us if you believe children's information has been handled improperly.
We may update this policy when features, providers or legal requirements change and will update the date on this page. Material changes will be notified as required by law, and fresh consent sought where required. For privacy questions or requests, contact the developer, onTheRoad, at ontheroadlucky@gmail.com.
